´´The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears ´´ June 8, 2008

Posted by habeshaviews in Art Reviews.

I have heard of Dinaw Mengistu before. But it´s only today that I accidentally came across his narration of an excerpt from his book ´´The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears ´´.

The book rolls around the experiances of an Ethiopian migrant and his other African friends in the United States. From the limited time I had the chance to listen to the excerpts,I enjoyed the expressions, humor and the distinct perspectives on life and Africa.

The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears (titled Children of the Revolution in Britain), has been nominated for The Guardian First Book Award in the U.K. and the Prix Femina Étranger in France, and earned Dinaw a place as one of the U.S. National Book Foundation’s “5 Under 35” for 2007. He is also the recipient of a 2006 fellowship in fiction from the New York Foundation for the Arts.

Born in Addis in 1978, Dinaw is A graduate of Georgetown University and of Columbia University’s MFA program in fiction.

This just made my list of ´to be read´ books. Hopefully, yours too!
